When you purchase cleaning equipment, this brings a lot of advantages to your site by increasing cleaning performance and reducing labour costs.
To have a machine that causes more headaches and costs completely eradicates the purpose of the equipment in the first place. Across all scrubbers, there are some common issues that cause the piece of equipment to have downtime, these common issues may seem hard to fix and you may just arrange for a service technician to come to the site, but a lot of them are designed to be easy to solve and cause minimum downtime if you fix them yourself at low cost. Below are a few common issues that are associated with auto scrubbers and the easy solutions to get your machine back in operation.
1. A problem that may occur is the auto scrubber leaving too much water behind and not drying the area. This may seem like a big issue at first but below we will explain the possible causes of this problem and how to fix it.
Problem: Squeegee Blade Condition
Solution: The squeegee blade attached may be too worn out or possibly damaged. The squeegee blade plays a role in collecting the solution for it to go into the vacuum hose and if damaged, makes the job of sucking up into the vacuum hose more difficult. Inspect your squeegee blade for damage, you can flip the squeegee blade or if it's completely damaged, you will need to replace the whole entire blade.
Problem: Vacuum Hose
Solution: The vacuum hose in your auto scrubber may be blocked, inspect the vacuum hose to ensures there are no blockages, as this can prevent the scrubber from picking up water.
Problem: Recovery tank is full
Solution: You may not notice your recovery tank being full. When your tank is full there is no more capacity to suck up the dirty solution. It’s as simple as emptying the tank to allow for more capacity for the dirty solution to be sucked into the tank. Whilst checking the recovery tank, check the vacuum filter in your auto scrubber as it may be required to be cleaned as well.
2. Another problem that may occur is you’re seeing poor results on the floor after it is scrubbed and cleaned. Auto scrubbers rely on their pads or brushes to get the floor clean. There are two factors that cause poor results, these include the pad or brush used and the chemical solution.
Problem: Pad and Brush Condition
Solution: The pad or brush used may not be the right fit for your auto scrubber or application. Like the squeegee blade, if your pad or brush is damaged or worn out this can cause irregular cleaning results or possibly even damage your flooring. Inspect the pad or brush to see if it’s worn out and if it is replaced with the right one for your desired floor finish. You may be also using the pad on a rough surface; this will cause the pad to deteriorate rapidly causing poor cleaning performance. Brushes are the preferred option on rough/non-slip surfaces.
3. Another feature of auto scrubbers is the release of water when using them. Auto scrubbers release water to help remove dirt from the surface of the floors and when your floor scrubber stops doing this, it affects the performance of the job and the finish results.
Problem: Water Level
Solution: You may not even realise it but the easiest solution to this problem could be simply checking if the machine was ever filled with water to the capacity line. Once filled, turn on the machine and see if any water is being released. If water is still not being released check for a clogged hose or valve. Further to this, a lot of scrubbers have the option to increase or decrease the water flow, ensuring that it is set at the correct level for your application.
Problem: Blocked Filter
Solution: Locate the filter and inspect it. Remove any dirt, blockage or build-up and reconnect again. Test the machine to see if it’s releasing any water after cleaning.
How To Remove The Filter?:
1. Access the filter from the suction system located at the top and remove the cap.
2. Remove the filter out and inspect.
3. Rinse under clean water.
4. Thoroughly dry the filter and ensure it is dry before placing the filter back in.
Problem: Run Time
Solution: This problem is only for battery-operated auto scrubbers. The point of you purchasing auto scrubbers is to get more jobs done in a shorter time. If you start to realise your auto scrubber isn’t performing for a very long period, this could cause you to lose clients and jobs.
When operating your auto scrubber, it should be fully charged before utilising it. If the battery is not fully charged this will cause reduced runtime of the machine, therefore not allowing you to complete your task. Make sure the battery is fully charged before use.
