Skinman 90 is an alcohol-based antiseptic hand rub containing 90% w/w ethanol in a water clear solution, registered with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (ARTG 195543) for use as both a pre-surgical hand rub and a hygienic hand rub.
The product meets the performance requirements of EN 12791, achieving a greater than 2-log (99%) reduction in resident skin flora following an initial 90-second application, with sustained microbial reduction maintained under gloves for up to three hours. When tested in vivo to EN 1500, a 20-second application achieves a greater than 5-log reduction in transient flora.
As an alcohol-based formulation, Skinman 90 does not require rinsing with water and does not need hands to be dried afterwards, since the alcohol content air-dries on the skin. This offers a waterless, brush-free and scrub-free alternative to aqueous antiseptic solutions such as povidone-iodine and chlorhexidine, which are more commonly associated with skin irritation.
